Eagle Elementary’s Third Grade Entrepreneurs Raise $300 with Student-Made Magnet Business
Article:
In a creative culmination of their Social Studies and Literacy unit on economics, the third graders at Eagle Elementary launched their very own small business—designing, producing, and selling a colorful variety of magnets to fellow students and staff.
The project allowed students to apply key economic principles such as supply and demand, marketing, and budgeting in a hands-on and engaging way. Over the course of several weeks, the young entrepreneurs brainstormed magnet designs, crafted their products, and managed their sales efforts with impressive teamwork and enthusiasm.
Their hard work paid off. The magnet business was a big hit, bringing in an impressive $300 in profit. Rather than keeping the earnings, the students chose to donate the entire amount toward something meaningful for their school community—demonstrating not only business savvy but also generosity and school spirit.
Teachers praised the project for blending academic learning with real-world skills and community values. “This unit brought economics to life in a way that was fun, educational, and impactful,” said one third-grade teacher. “Our students didn’t just learn about business—they became entrepreneurs.”
The entire school is excited to see how the donation will be used, and the third graders can take pride in knowing their creativity and teamwork made a real difference.
